About the time I finished my donuts and was wondering what to do, this guy went rolling past our hotel room. Noting the "swoosh" logo, I quickly decided the best thing would be to try to get ahead of him and grab a couple of pix; off I went. I got off hiway 27 at Thrasher Pike and, crossing the tracks, found him waiting in the trees. On the signal bridge above, a "High Green" was set for oncoming traffic. I settled back, waiting...

I hadn't been there more than a couple of minutes when I heard train 161 announcing "Clear Cave Springs." A couple minutes more and I was able to grab this shot.

BNSF 7717
NS 6596
NS 6691

Not long after 161 went north, this 224 Intermodal followed him led by some more Burlington power.

BNSF 7760
BNSF 5423

Another shot as the 7760 crosses Thrasher Pike...
With two trains past, the 179 heads south and I finally get a good look at this EMD SD70ACe unit. It sounded stout!
A second shot...
It got quiet for a while so I returned to the hotel and picked up Anita. We drove through Dayton, where the Strawberry Festival was in full swing, and on up to Spring City where we had a BBQ lunch at the restaurant of Greg Marshall, son of a friend from Niceville. While there, I got a couple of pix of the local RR depot. I suspect this was built by the Cincinnati Southern, but it may be of more recent construction.
