I caught this south-bound mixed freight high-balling through Daisy, Tennessee.

My mom insisted that we take her back to Wisconsin, so tuesday we left Tennessee early and after staying overnight in Peru, Illinois, we arrived at her home early Wednesday afternoon. In Altoona I found several old Soo Line boxcars on a Union Pacific train bound for South St. Paul, MN.

Nice that they were tied together, too. There were three more in the train, but I didn't get pix of those.

This SD40-2 was the third unit in the train, and was picked up here in Altoona to assist the two locos that brought the train north from Adams. Probably an ex-C&NW unit.

This is Lake Wissota, near Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. These guys are engaging in the sport known as "Ice Fishing." As I understand it, has something to do with a short fishing rod and a bottle of booze...
