On Tuesday mornings I have a Bible study in Chattanooga. It starts early, so those who need to can get to work on time. Since I'm no longer gainfully employed, I'm able to chase around town hunting trains...
First stop: "Coffey's Cliff" where I found a lot of trains moving around.

Notice the green signal; that near line belongs to CSX -- should be a train coming soon.

A GE Dash 9 and two siblings lead this mixed freight into the yard.

Might be interesting to know what the tagger had in mind when he scribbled this inanity.

Or maybe not...

Here comes that CSX train, a hot intermodal with an SD70MAC and a new ES44DC hauling the freight.

Out of the frozen north comes this Duluth, Winnepeg & Pacific box.

Another northerner visits, this Central Vermont boxcar is a sister to the previous one. Both roads are now part of the Canadien National system.

This box must have spent a good bit of time sitting still, judging by the elaborate artwork on it.

Back in Soddy, this catfish and a patched Conrail sibling haul the freight south.

On Friday, we drove from Chattanooga to Fort Worth, Texas to spend Easter with our son and daughter-in-law. Saturday, Jeff and I met up with Dennis "Homer" Holmes, a dispatcher for the BNSF, and caught these shots
On Friday I spotted this Gateway Western in the yard at Monroe, Louisiana. A quick "Railfan U-Turn" and I had this shot of a GP38 trying to hide behind a Kudzu-covered telegraph post.

BNSF power in a variety of paint schemes north-bound at Saginaw, Texas on a cold, windy day.

South-bound Amtrak scatters the pigeons feeding off the last grain train.

Another south-bound grainer at the Saginaw Interlocker. The pigeons rejoice.

"Awful" is right!

Thursday, April 19: a group of local railfans gather at Tennbridge Park to meet a "Visiting Fireman" from Nashville.
On the way into the Big City I followed Back Valley Road down from Sale Creek and catch this north-bound mixed freight in Soddy.

Thursday, April 19, 2007

On the way home I spotted a green signal at Daisy for southbound traffic, so I got off of the four-lane and snuck back by the Defect Detector. Before long this BNSF War Bonnet came hustling through.
