July 2006 Photographs
Bruce and Carole Dicken visited us in early July, and we took a trip on the Tennessee Valley RR Museum train behind consolidation # 610.
Our departure point is Grand Junction, headquarters of the TVRM.

The standard trip runs from Grand Junction to the East Chattanooga shops of the TVRM. Here we see the 610 being turned on the turntable there.

On July 10th we were in Wisconsin, and on our way to Minocqua. Between Cadott and Boyd we came upon this magnificent American Bald Eagle.
As we drove up on him, he was making breakfast off a roadkill. At our approach, he leaped into the air and flew several hundred yards ahead of us to a perch in a tree.

I managed a couple shots in the tree before he again took wing. I was glad that he chose to fly across the road rather than back into the woods.

I kept the motor drive working as he swooped across the road.

We drove into Owen where I took a couple shots of relics of the Fairchild & NorthEastern Railway.

This building is quite old, and appears to have used the F&NE for shipments. The open door looks ready for a boxcar even today.
