The train-watching platform at Folkston, Georgia...
Our first train arrived soon after we did: a pair of big GE's pulling a unit coal train south to Florida.
A green signal tells us we have a north-bound train coming on track two.
And here he comes... | |||
It's not often I see one of these at home. Former Soo Line "ColorMark" covered hopper, now carrying grain for the Illinois, Chicago & Eastern.
Hot Intermodal cargo trumps the mixed freight, so UP 9624 hauls her boxes past the 9043
Once the intermodal is out of the way, a clear signal is given and the 9043 is once more on her way north. As she is powered up, she gives us the signature GE plume of black smoke...
Gaining speed as she crosses Martin Street...
Heading north under threatening skies...
Another lovely Union Pacific patch job. Notice the star that dots the second "i'... very professional.
Q174 is south-bound on track One with UP power lined up elephant-style...
