Keith sez: "This model is quite old. I chopped the short hood 15 or more years ago, acquiring the Atlas RS11 model shortly after it was released the first time. I had no plans or dimensions to go by, I simply studied photographs and made wild-ass guesses and conclusions as to the height, then marked out where to cut and went at it."
"I originally painted this model in solid red. I didn't like that and was contemplating selling it off, when Don Manlick began selling GB&W decal sets with the black pin-striping for both ends of GB&W units. That sold me, and I re-painted the model and re-decalled it."
"The Handrails are far too large, but I'm not changing that now. I'll live with the discrepancy."
"Note the end lettering reads "KGB&W". # 309 was owned by the KEWAUNEE, Green Bay & Western, a "Paper" Railroad that operated the Green Bay-Kewaunee segment of the Railroad. They had their own engines but that made no difference. GB&W ran them as their own all over the railroad. GB&W "merged" the KGB&W into one united whole in 1969."
The two photos below were taken recently by Rob Schoneman, of Keith's model of the GBW # 309.
