Arlyn says, "II had to get some work done on my car on Wednesday afternoon and the car dealership is only one block from the WN tracks so I took the opportunity to catch the crew as they came into Barron. I was greeted and offered a ride while they switched Barron. Yesterday the temperature approached 90 degrees with high humidity but a thundershower brought a cool front and today it is comfortale with temps in the 60s. It is about 4PM and these pictures are taken directly into the sun. Come along for a ride." Webmaster says, "Click on the picture to see it full-size." | |||

Here we cross the Yellow River and approach the waiting cars.

With an engine on each end and a passing track in town, usually it is
quite easy to drop the loads and pick up the empties. But JOTS had
double ordered cars as they were worried about shipments during the
RNC so unloaded cars in town had to be moved closest to the plant,
and the crew had some extra empty cars along from the trip up, so it
took a lot of jockeying to get cars in their correct place.

Here's an example. The 1501 had to be set into the JOTS siding so
cars could be moved from the main to the passing siding.

After all the moves, it's time to park the train outside of town.
The crew will start there on Thursday morning for the trip back to Norma.
